Next-Generation ERP solutions for SMEs 

I have been a sci-fi fan since I was a child and have closely followed the rise of robots and computers in factories and offices. The final scene of Terminator 2 in the steel factory was cinematic and impactful, but I also admired the factory itself and the computers flashing in the background. My studies also took me in this direction; in Aalto university (or then TKK) my focus area was applying  information technology (IT) to industrial settings, with an eye on future automated factories.

Professionally, I ended up in an IT organization in the late nineties, implementing and building manufacturing systems for companies. The term ERP wasn't yet widely used, but essentially that is what we did. My learning years taught me a lot, and the trend of shifting business operations more and more into "IT", or the digital world, was big and intriguing. However, the bureaucracy of a large IT company wasn't as appealing. The leap out of the rat race happened at the turn of the millennium, and since then, I have been doing the same kind of work as an entrepreneur and partner at Webbros. I have my own style and prefer minimal administration—doing the actual work. 

Since then, I've worked on dozens of ERP projects—big and small, as an expert, consultant, project manager, auditor, steering group member, etc.—across the entire spectrum. Mostly as a cog in the machine, subcontractor, team member. I've been involved in many successful projects, but also in large, sometimes troubled ones, working as a team member under less-experienced managers. So, I've seen a wide range of work methods, including those "lessons to learn" ones. But always managing to come through in the end! ​

The move to the Odoo system came after realizing that there are much more straightforward and ready-made platforms available, as opposed to the old, heavy systems (like SAP). These platforms offer nearly the same features, including the possibility of making larger customizations.

As an entrepreneur, I also saw the benefit of having no intermediary between myself and the customer. As opposed to working as subcontractor to IT firms where a lot of administration inevitably gets involved in projects. Odoo has brought enthusiasm and efficiency to the work!"
